What is Animal Abuse?
People Who love animals often ask, “How could someone
ever abuse their animals?” Which is a great question
but the truth is most people don’t even realize that
they are doing it.
There are three kinds of animal abuse or animal cruelty.
Intentional Abuse
The people who intentionally abuse animals are usually young and they most likely have not been taught how to treat animals. These people may also do it because of peer pressure or may not be thinking clearly. Many of the the intentional abuse happens when a person becomes angry and they decide to take our their anger by hurting their per out of frustration. Others may hurt their pet to laugh at their reaction without knowing how hurt or how bad their pet really feels. The people who abuse animals because of peer pressure are usually in groups and may show off to their friends by hitting an animal and then their friends follow along because of the peer pressure. However most people who abuse animal intentionally only tend to do it a few times and then learn from it, but the truth is that in most states hurting an animal intentionally can get you into more trouble than if your hurt an animal unintentionally. These types of people that fall into peer pressure easily can be helped by teaching them about animal abuse early on and showing them that animals are just like humans.
Unintentional Abuse
Most of the people who abuse animals do it unintentional meaning that they do it on accident or may not realize what they are doing. These are the type of people that put their dog on a very short chain in their backyard all day long or someone that keeps their dog outside and made a doghouse for them but never clean it or it may have water leaking through the roof when it rains. Other will try to control or teach their pet by using intimidation or by hitting them thinking that it’s the best way to train their pet. Those type of people need to learn that hitting their pet won’t love anything and can cause them to lose their pet or cause them to get in trouble. Other types of unintentional abuse are when owners leave their pet in their car on a hot day and the windows are rolled all the way up or someone may forget to give their pet water for several days. Another way that has been receiving a lot of spotlight on TV recently is when people bring in a lot of animals into their home thinking they’re helping them when in reality they can’t take care of that many animals, and with all the animals in one house it’s easy for them all to spread diseases. These types of people are called hoarders and their intentions are good but they need to realize that the animals will eventually be living in a dirty, unhealthy, and cramped up in one place.
Cruel Intention Abuse
The last type of people who have a cruel intention when abusing animals are easily the worst types of people to have animals around them. These people will hurt animals just for entertainment or simply because they hate animals. A prime example of cruel intention abuse is when people raise dogs for the sole purpose of fighting other dogs for entertainment or because it makes them feel powerful having a dog who can fight. Or some may hit their pet because they think its the only way to keep them controlled. Others are so cruel that they just do it because they love to see pain and violence. Those who enjoy violence will also tend to hurt people and not just animals. As you can tell with this last group of people suffer from severe psychological problems and may need professional help to ever break free from it.
